This photograph of the choir of St. Michael’s Church, Liverton, was taken in about 1966.
At the back: Margaret Maudsley, June Lees, Susan Whitwell and Christine Wallace.
In front: David Lees, Janet Codling, Audrey Wallace, Jean Wallace and Douglas Lees.
Thanks to Mrs. Janet Wilson for the photograph and information.

This lovely coloured postcard of Liverton Church came from Cooke’s Fancy Bazaar, Loftus, and was sent to Glasgow c. 1905.

St. Michael’s Church, Liverton. A delightful church in equally delightful surroundings. From the book of views of Loftus.

Some of the carved pillars inside the church, anyone know when this church was built?
Well Joan – this is part of the Norman Arch (rodders).

Inside the church at Liverton as I said small but beautiful. Now I am wondering are they oil lamps hanging there?
Unless I miss my guess that is a triple Norman Arch – very similar to Lastingham (rodders).

Somewhere different I don’t think we have another photo of Liverton or of these cottages what I always knew as Petches Cottages am I right?

This is a well-balanced photograph (probably a picture postcard) of Liverton Gardens, in the valley between Liverton and Moorsholm. It was a market garden, you can see the glass-house middle-left of the image.
The house visible in the picture is a semi-detched residence, each ”semi” being a mirror-image of the other.
My wife and her brother were born here in the ’50s and they lived a while here with their Grand-parents before moving to Doddercar cottages.
