That’s A Big One Norman.

That's A Big One Norman.

The cigar is a big one and there must have been a good joke made as the group are all laughing, Once again we know Norman and his sister Doris but can you name any of the others in the photo?  Better still were you there?  If the last photo was at Eston then this one must be as the same coat of arms is behind the group.

Admiring The Chain.

Admiring The Chain.

We think this maybe at Eston, but we are also hoping you will confirm this or tell us where it is, the group of children and Norman are admiring the official chain of office.  Are you in this photo?

“United We Endeavour” below the Redcar and Cleveland coat of Arms. Perhaps it was taken in the Mayor’s office or the council chamber?

Thank you Norman Patton.

Here’s a group of miners (and a pit pony) comprising the last shift coming out-bye at the Trustee Drift, Eston Mine, 18th september 1949.  The mine had worked its 99 year lease – to the day.

You can see the pulleys, rollers and cables of the main and tail haulage system for moving the setts around.
