Alan Franks tells us:
This is a photo of 1st St Helens Troop B P Boy Scouts Football Team 1919-1920. My dad George Franks is the small lad 3rd from right, he would be 12 or 13 years old at this time. I have no further information.

Thanks to Alan for the update.

Tom George

Tom George

After making the comment about Tom George’s height on the previous image of Liverton Mines chapel, I asked his Daughter Iris if I could send you this one.
Tom was employed on Skinningrove Iron works, and by the look of it he was in the platelayers gang as he sports a hammer that was used to relocate the wooden chocks that had come out of the rail chairs – I think you will agree that he was a tall man for his time, but very much a gentle giant. Tom was very well known in both Liverton Mines & Loftus – sorry but the name of the other person in the image is unknown as is the date.
(Thank you Ray brown for the picture and the comments)

This time it’s Ronnie Patton and Louis McGuire, I am sure most older Loftus people can pick out Betty McGuire, second right, cheeriest postwoman ever.  ”Tie-Pin Ted” is also in the photo, who I am told was one of four Winspear brothers who lived at Liverton Mines. Louis’s father stands next to her and her cousin Beatrice, next to him. Two of the lovely small bridesmaids were Rosalie and Margaret Patton.
