The bridal party at the wedding of Mr Gordon Knaggs and Miss Elsie Mary Garnett in August 1939. The older local people will remember Gordon Knaggs as the owner of the Daisy Dairy in Loftus and Miss Garnett as the daughter of the undertaker Harry Garnett who lived in Carlin How.

This wedding group photo was taken in Tyne St, East Loftus, in 1930.
The groom, Cyril Edwin Guite, is standing at the back with Sarah Elizabeth Guite (nee Hopper), and Richard Adamson Guite.

Two local people after their wedding in the 1948, taken outside Loftus Police Station.
This wedding, between Dave Smith of Coronation Street, Carlin How and Maisie Rowland of West Road, Loftus took place on 7 August 1948. The ceremony was held in the Congregational Church and, as there was no frontage to the church, the photographs were taken, as Ray Brown tells us, outside Loftus police station. The bride’s guardians , Tom and Nellie Steyart, were close friends of Frank Watson the Police Inspector in charge at Loftus.
Bridesmaids:- Mrs. Ruby Johnson (Lindsley) cousin of the bride, Miss P. Tyreman, Miss T.R. Mintoft, Miss J. Baxter and Miss E. Money.
Best Man: Mr Frank Liddiard. Ushers: Mr G. Rowland, Mr. J.R.Mintoft.
Officiating clergy Rev. Maurice Clegg.

This is the wedding of Edward Isaac Money (Ted) and Caroline Smith (Carrie). Far left is Charles Powell Smith the bride’s brother, Nan Page friend of the bride, Ted and Carrie, Mary Smith niece of the bride and Jonathan Smith (Jonty) brother of the bride and father of Mary.
The wedding took place at St. Helen’s Church Carlin How on the 11th November 1932, the couple then lived at Skinningrove before moving to East Loftus after being bombed out of their house in Skinningrove during in the second world war.

This photo shows the wedding between Charles Hall of Front Street Carlin How to Olive Appleby, also of Carlin How, great grand parents of George Tremain. The wedding took place in 1920. Charles was 30 years of age and Olive was also 30 years. Also on the left of the photograph is his father Charles Hall who had been an Overman in the Loftus Ironstone Mine who was aged 76 years at the time of the photograph and his wife Margaret Elizabeth Ann (nee Ord). The parents of the bride were William and Mary Appleby.

Doris (Welham) Cossey and Jean (Richardson) Forrest are the two lovely bridesmaids, but who were they bridesmaids for and when and where was the wedding?
David Rigden tell us: ”This is my Auntie dot. She was a “Cossey” not Rigdon
I think the wedding was probably my mum Edith. She was the Rigden”

The bride is Rita Webster, born in 1909, her parents were Thomas and Jane Ann (nee Eggleston), the groom is Harry Sylvester. Rita and Harry ran the Off-license shop in Carlin How for many years, Harry was also involved with Saltbur Motor Services or Pickerings as they were often called.

The title tells us it was Harry Rayson’s wedding, Kate Webster was his bride, the wedding was in 1917 (cavalry uniform of the groom), but where was the wedding?

Stan Ward very well known not only in Carlin How but the surrounding area too as the painter and decorator, his bride was Eileen Reed and we can see one of the bridesmaids is named but who are the others in the photo, can anyone out there help?
