I think this photograph of the children attending Easington School was taken about 1902. Georgina Thurlow is the girl in the sailor dress, third from the right, second row from the back.
The original image is mounted behind glass which is cracked. I have not attempted to touch up the image. I felt happy to show it how it is, over a hundred years old.
Would any of your grandparents, or greatgrandparents have attended the school at the time?

Thanks to Beryl Morris for this photograph of the children at Easington School with the headmaster and teacher, taken in 1908. There’s quite a range of ages in the children, would this be the whole school? The only name we have is J.C.Morris, kneeling on the left of the front row.

Now we can safely say that we have an image of Easington School! This looks like a classic Poor Law School, boys one side and girls the other.
Ray says ”The one attached has come from Joe Fenby, he has lived in the now converted School for many years and has just celebrated his 90th Birthday, he was told that the Girl in the picture was his Mother but he cannot say for certain”.

Derick Pearson tells us: ”This is at the rear of Plantation cottages which is near to Stanhow Hall. The road right goes to Stanghow Ridge and eventually onto Birk Brow bank, straight on for Lockwood Beck and to the left and after travelling some 300 yards or so, Plantation Cottages is on the right opposite the farm right under the Rookery trees.”
