Programme of Walks for Heritage Open Days

Thursday 12 September

Walk:          Industrial heritage along the coast from Skinningrove to Hummersea

Start:           11:00 at Riverside Building, New Company Row, Skinningrove, TS13 4AU

Duration:    about 3.5 hours; bring a packed lunch

Conditions: wet and slippery surface on shore; beware of rock pools and falling rocks.

Friday 13 September

Walk:          Exploring Skinningrove – its history and heritage

Start:           13:15 at Riverside Building, New Company Row, Skinningrove, TS13 4AU

Duration:    about 2 hours

Conditions: on paved areas and footpaths; some slopes; take care crossing roads.

Saturday 14 September

Walk:          Listed and vernacular buildings in the Loftus Conservation Area

Start:           14:00 outside White Horse Inn, Loftus Market Place, TS13 4HG

Duration:    about 2.5 hours

Conditions: moderate with some narrow, uneven and sloped sections.

Sunday 15 September

Walk:          Excavations at Street House near Loftus – a guided tour by Dr Stephen Sherlock

Start:           13:30 outside Co-op shop, Loftus Market Place, TS13 4HA

Duration:    about 2.5 hours

Conditions: on roads and footpaths; long but moderate ascent and descent.

Walkers are advised to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Walks will be led by accredited Walk leaders

 This programme of walks is organised by LOFTUS ACCORD.

LOFTUS ACCORD is a non-political not-for-profit organisation which acts as an umbrella group to ordinate the activities of a number of member groups within the civil parish of Loftus as recommended in the ‘Loftus Community Plan’.
