As part of the Centenary of the start of The Great War, Loftus Family History Group are trying to piece together the life history of each of the casualties on the Loftus War Memorials.
Whilst some of the casualties are easy to trace, some are more difficult – I wouldn’t go so far as to say impossible – because they only arrived in Loftus after the 1911 Census.
We would like to appeal for any stories and/or photographs of any of The Great War casualties and as an extension to our original intentions, any other Great War combatants, particularly if they were injured. This will enable us to tell their stories better and also to give an insight into the unsung heroes – those who went to war and returned, injured or not.
The drop point for any information will be Loftus Neighbourhood Library, marked FAO Rodders
